Cm rv - Reflejos/Despertares/Siempre
Cm rv is an avid producer who focuses on more sombre pieces. Cm rv evolves previous ideas and presents them in an elegant and more nuanced matter. His rhythms, while repetitive, are hypnotic and calming.
Reflejos is a calm piece in vein of Stars of the Lid, though with keys as opposed to strings. Simultaneously calm, tranquil and elegant; the track sadly never justifies its length, though homes a lovely composition. Despertares, in comparison, is stunning. The flow of the entire track is graceful and never wastes a note; a true delight from start to finish. Siempre boasts stunning arps and a magnificent progression. The ambience is unique and recognisable, elegantly rounding off the EP.
Listening to cm rv’s earlier stuff has given me huge appreciation for cm rv, as the artist has trialed and mastered his craft over a long period of time. His latest EP is clearly a result of that effort and is quite solidly crafted. The first song is not as strong as the second two, and the album is quite short in retrospect. I hope he’s able to take his newly equipped skills and break the mold further with future releases.
