Jeremy’s Feed & Seed (Formerly Top’s)

Have you ever had one of those passing thoughts… You look at the future and think to yourself:

I should start my own farm, be self-sufficient, eat my veggies and live off the land. Then I could finally unplug myself from this hellish dystopian machine that is our modern life and head towards true freedom!

Or perhaps it wasn’t a passing thought for you, perhaps you really are thinking of it as a plausible next step in life. Whatever the case may be let Jeremy Clarkson (of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? fame) give you the quick rundown and perhaps, depending on your situation, totally obliterate your hopes and dreams.

Clarkson’s Farm is one of those shows that you really have no expectations for, that is because in reality you’re not quite sure what to expect. And yet, it ends up being as revealing as it is entertaining as, it not only provides a perfect scenario for Clarkson to work in some of his classic and wacky (as the kids today would call it) “boomer humor”, but it also serves as a crude and effective showcase of the harsh realities of modern day farming, along with bringing up a few related issues that are worth the viewer’s consideration as we continue our march into the uncertainty of the future.

However if this has given you the impression that this is some form of woke environmentalist TV Show, please don’t misunderstand me, that is not the case at all. Clarkson’s intention from the start seems always to be presenting to the audience an accurate depiction of the ins and outs of being a farmer, what it really takes to do it and what that would look like for someone who’s got next to no experience or knowledge on the matter, never missing a chance to have fun along the way and messing things up every way he can. And that’s how this show shines, it is enlightening to those of us not in the know and perhaps even for those who think they know, shedding light on subjects that should be more openly discussed as they certainly involve all of us.

Having been produced partly during the height of Covid, the series will remain a snapshot of the times, encapsulating the general aura of despair, the feeling of not knowing what’s going to go down next and perhaps you could say the absurdity of it all.

As a closing thought, I should point out that this is no Grand Tour, there will be no big thrills in races against professional drivers or even wacky vehicles making their way through irregular terrain (ok, maybe one) but I do believe that it’s worth giving it a chance. It won’t change your life, but it might give you some insight on something you didn’t know.

Thank you as always for reading this far.

See you next time!
