Sleep Year – Defect
Sleep Year released Defect on September 7th, 2019. The album was a simple, yet enjoyable rehash of every indie-rock album on Bandcamp.
The album was loaded with personality, and some surprisingly solid songwriting, though was lacking in originality. Among the highlights were Welcome to Analog City with its suave outro and the simple, but enjoyable Plastic Gold. Try experiments more in the instrumental department, and greatly succeeds at it; its choruses on the other hand, are standard. Ok I Get It channels the sing-along spirit of Car Seat Headrest, and the closer Hide is emotionally expressive, though none of these songs do anything unique. The remaining songs are cheesy, generic indie rock.
Nothing much more to say. It’s ok.
