Sweet Hart - Atlas
Sweet Hart is an experimental noise rock producer from Sydney, Australia. His second album, Atlas, is a sweet yet under-riped admission in his discography.
Atlas Pt. 1 has an incredibly well captured ethereal stream of noise, that both transcends and comforts. While the opening section of the song is poorly produced, its simultaneously absorbing and invigorating. Furthermore, the progression of the song is graceful and well thought-out. Atlas P. 2 is not quite as striking and the track makes the horrible mistake of wasting the EP’s little runtime to document a mundane activity. Thankfully the acoustic chamber of the second half is much more iridescent and welcoming, creatively blending genres such as shoegaze, goth and post rock.
It’s difficult to recommend Atlas simply due to its short length and underwhelming production; this is a shame, because it boasts some of the most interesting noise rock I’ve heard during the year. Atlas is an undeniably sweet listen and is very much deserving of its small run time. If Sweet Hart were to release a full lengthened album of this quality, it’d be easy to recommend.
