Empty Angels – Sheets/Pointland
While still relying on the conventions of pop, Empty Angels on Sheets/Pointland has demonstrated his is perfectly capable of transversing other domains of music. The opener, Sheets, is a genuinely absorbing blend of psychedelic ambience and chaotic electronic melodic disintegration. The closer, Pointland, adds vibrant flair to the track listing, yet cannot help a little underdeveloped. Overall, both these tracks are an incredible sign for the future. Had Empty Angels compiled an entire album constructed of this quality, it’d be incredibly easy to recommend.
As an EP, though; it’s disappointingly short. One can only hope Empty Angel’s debut in future will sound this strong, though he’ll need to step up his output.
